The Lancet Public Health recognizes that publication fees can be a barrier for researchers from low- and middle-income countries or those with limited funding. Eligible authors may apply for a partial or full waiver of article processing charges (APCs) based on financial need, institutional support, or country of residence. Requests for waivers are reviewed confidentially and on a case-by-case basis, ensuring that decisions are fair and transparent. Approval of a waiver does not influence the peer review process, which remains rigorous and independent. This policy supports equitable access to publishing while maintaining the journal’s commitment to high-quality scientific dissemination.
