Waiver Eligibility

The RBC Journal of Sociology of Health and Illness recognizes that authors from different regions or institutions may face financial constraints that could limit their ability to pay publication fees. To support equitable access to publishing, the journal provides partial or full waivers of article processing charges (APCs) on a case-by-case basis. Eligibility for a waiver is typically considered for authors from low-income or developing countries, early-career researchers, or those without institutional funding. Requests for waivers must be submitted at the time of manuscript submission and are evaluated confidentially by the editorial office. Approval of a waiver does not affect the peer review process or editorial decision, ensuring that all manuscripts are judged solely on scholarly merit.
